Jubilee Week Celebrations

One of the special comments I heard today was “the Jubilee really brought us together as a community” and what a magnificent way to do this – in Eucharist.

Fr. Brian D. Fitzpatrick. OSA

THE JOURNEY OF THE JUBILEE CANDLE:
Our jubilee candles (all five) joureyed around Our Parish, through the parish schools and Emmaus Village. One candle moved from and returned to the Vigil Mass at 6:00pm another from 8am Mass, another from 9:30am Mass and the fourth from the Sunday evening 6:00pm Mass. The designated person received it from the Mass they attend each week – that evening they gathered their family and prayed the Jubilee Prayer and either The Rosary or the Evening Prayer of the Church. These resources were provided in the accompanying kit together with a set of instructions included in the Bulletin. The next day we asked that they contact the next person on the roster and arrange to hand on the candle to them. The last person to receive the candle in a particular week returned it to its designated Mass where it began a new journey. Parishioners were invited to sign up to host the candle as part of a roster. This was a wonderful way to prepare to honour and celebrate the faith of those who have continually responded to God’s call to the mission and made Our Parish the wonderful parish we have today, and whose wenty five faithful years we celebrated on the 29th October with our Founder Fr Brian Rooney and our current Diocesan leader Bishop Kevin Manning.

Jubilee Book

Holy Spirit Parish celebrated its Silver Jubilee in October 2006. A Jubilee Book was published in connection with this. The book features the history of the parish and also includes photos and other articles. In order to meet the cost of this jubilee book and other activities, advertising and private donations were sourced. Many local businesses and personal/family greetings were placed in the book.
All names of donors were inscribed in the Silver Jubilee book.
